Three sub-districts in Pattani’s Thung Yang Daeng district were locked down after five Covid-19 cases were discovered, taking the total number of infected people to 82, Pattani Governor Kraisorn Wisitwong said today (April 14).

He made the remark after presiding over the opening ceremony of a field hospital at the Pattani Industry Area Project Administration Office in Bana sub-district.
He said the field hospital would be used to treat and monitor Covid-19 patients and even those showing “few symptoms” of the virus.
“This field hospital has 70 to 90 beds, medical staff, and supplies,” he said. “Dr Rusta Salae has been appointed director of the hospital.”
Kraisorn said the number of Covid-19 patients in the country rose to 82 from the previous 77, adding that four of the five new cases are in Thung Yang Daeng district while another is in Yarang district.
“Four of the patients took part in a religious ceremony, while the other came into contact with an infected patient,” he said. “We have closed three sub-districts in Thung Yang Daeng to strictly screen all villagers.”
Kraisorn called for strict inspections in every area to find out which should be categorised as risky or safe, while patients categorised as infected or suspect must be placed under quarantine.
“We would like to also ask people who participated in activities involving gatherings or showing Covid-19 symptoms to immediately take a physical examination at hospitals and undergo a 14-day quarantine,” he said.
“If everyone in the province does as we say, we believe we will overcome this crisis together.”
