Village headman flouts orders, holds big Songkran gathering
Nonthaburi governor Sujin Chaichumsak has ordered the Bang Bua Thong district chief to set up an investigative committee to look into the case of a village headman in the province bringing a large number of people together to hold a Songkran ritual.
Photographs of the village headman together with his guests pouring water on the hands of elderly people and seeking their blessings were posted online on Monday (April 13), leading to severe criticism.
Sujin said this was a clear violation of the Emergency Decree and breached the regulations of civil service.
“I want to inform every community leader in Nonthaburi that you should set a good example on your people,” Sujin said.
