The Nakorn Ratchasima government set up tents for more than a hundred traders on Monday (December 2) after their businesses were hit by a fire that swept through Mae Kim Heng market on Sunday night.

The traders can also register for a temporary sale area or other remedial services.
Government engineers were ordered to inspect the market’s structure, while probation officers were assigned to investigate the cause of the fire.
The officers have found that the fire started at a flower shop at the front of the market, where a large number of floral foam blocks were stored.
The fire also burned two units of a commercial building near the market, causing at least Bt50 million in damage. The officers expect an official conclusion of the cause of the fire to be ready next week.
Half of the market was burned and its steel-structure roof collapsed.
The flower shop owner, Somporn Palatwong, said she had stored flowers for sale on Father’s Day, December 5. She estimated the damage at around Bt500,000.
