ELECTION COMMISSION (EC) chairman Apichart Sukhagganond will not take long to decide on whether to propose the dissolution of the Bhum Jai Thai Party once he receives a report on the issue from a subcommittee, commissioner Sodsri Satayathum said.

If the chairman, as the political party registrar, decides the party should be dissolved, he will propose the move to a meeting of the full commission, Sodsri said.
The five-member EC would then vote on the dissolution, she said, adding that if Apichart decides the party should not be dissolved, other commissioners had no right to object.
It is expected that the chairman will submit his decision to the EC by next week, she said.
The party has been accused by a former member of failing to submit some items of expenditure incurred in relation to the July 3, 2011 election. By law, if four out of five commissioners agree with the allegation, the party must be dissolved.
Party deputy secretary-general Supachai Jaisamut said Bhum |Jai Thai had done nothing wrong and submitted all necessary |documents to the relevant subcommittee.
