The route was officially launched on Wednesday by THAI chairman of The Plan Administrator Piyasvasti Amaranand and Turkish Ambassador Serap Ersoy.
The new route will not only connect travellers with Istanbul’s rich cultural and historical treasures but will also serve as a key intercontinental travel hub, linking Asian, African and European, especially Eastern European, destinations through the Star Alliance network.
From December 1, THAI will operate daily roundtrip flights between Bangkok and Istanbul as follows:
• TG900: Departs Bangkok at 11.45pm, arrives in Istanbul at 6.05am (local time) the following day
• TG901: Departs Istanbul at 4.30pm (local time), arrives in Bangkok at 5.35am the following day
Apart from introducing this exciting new route, passengers on these flights will also be served delicious savoury amuse-bouche (appetisers) inspired by Thai and Turkish culinary traditions.
The Bangkok-Istanbul route will enhance THAI’s connectivity and cargo capabilities in the Asia-Pacific and Australia regions. It will also strengthen economic, transportation, trade and investment ties between Thailand, Turkey and other Eastern European nations, aligning with the government’s strategic objectives.
