As finishing touches are added to the frozen wonderland, excitement is building as people wait to be transported to a realm of magic and wonder.

From Elsa’s majestic ice palace to Anna’s charming village, every detail in the “World of Frozen” was crafted to recreate the enchanting landscapes and characters from the film.

Michel den Dulk, executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering

Michel den Dulk, executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering, who was behind this magical wonderland, shared his journey as an “Imagineer”. He said he was first captivated by the wonders of theme parks at the age of 12, and since then he has been fascinated by the imagination that went into their creation.

“I decided to dedicate my career to drawing theme park attractions, forsaking dreams of being a fireman or pilot. As an Imagineer, my creative journey reached its pinnacle with the World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland,” he said, emphasising the inspiration behind every design to transport guests into the spellbinding universe of Arendelle.

The Walt Disney Imagineers have masterfully blended the enchantment of Frozen with the breathtaking natural beauty of Hong Kong’s Lantau mountains.

“We aimed to create a space where guests could truly own the magic, and seeing them embrace it with such positivity has been immensely rewarding,” said den Dulk.

Michael Moriarty, president and managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland

Michael Moriarty, president and managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland, highlighted the scale of this expansion, describing it as the park’s largest since its opening in 2005.

“What makes this World of Frozen truly special is its scale. This is our largest expansion since the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland, allowing us to create a completely immersive environment.

“Despite the challenges posed by Covid, we’ve continued to invest in enhancing the guest experience. From the Castle of Magical Dreams to the Nighttime Spectacular, Momentous, and now the World of Frozen, we've consistently aimed to create magic for our guests,” Moriarty said.

He noted that the new addition is designed to cater to both the young and young-at-heart, offering a nostalgic trip down memory lane for some and a fresh discovery of Frozen’s magic for others.

In Moriarty’s words, this world is meant to transport visitors to a place of joy, love and warmth, proving that the spell of Disney is truly ageless.
