The Ventura series became popular when the King of Rock & Roll Elvis Presley wore it in the 1961 film “Blue Hawaii”. And in remembering the 40th anniversary of Presley’s death, the watch brand recently hosted a mini concert at Hard Rock Cafe Bangkok featuring Elvis Thailand Vasu “Jib” Sangsingkeo and Jr Satawat Tungkarat, known as Elvissoot
“Until the early 1960s, Ventura was known as the ‘Elvis watch’ so it seemed only fitting that we should organise a mini concert in remembrance of the icon, and also introduce the Ventura Collection of 2017 to Thai fans,” said Jakraphan Yanprasitvet, the company’s sales and marketing manager.
Established in 1892 in Lancaster, the watchmaker is now under the Swatch Group and still offers designs that combine the American classic style with advanced technology from Switzerland.
Hamilton watches have been featured in more than 450 films.
The collection was launched in January 1957 as the world’s first watch driven by battery power and the new series includes the Ventura Classic and Ventura Elvis80 Skeleton watches. The Classic boasts the symbol for electric current on its dial and a body made of stainless steel coated with golden PVD to reflect its glorious past. The brown leather strap with the Teju pattern sets off the white dial and golden hands.
The Ventura Elvis80 Skeleton timepiece takes inspiration from the rock singer’s microphone with bold horizontal lines cutting through the hours.
It’s driven by automatic clockwork and has a maximum 80 hours of spare power.
