The French Embassy celebrates the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and France while paying tribute to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej in the photographic exhibition, “State visits, Diplomacy of Friendship”, running from today until Sunday at Siam Paragon’s crystal court. The exhibition features numerous photos of the visit to France in 1897 of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, the state visit to France in 1960 of Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit and finally the state visit to Thailand of French President Jacques Chirac and Bernadette in 2006. In loving memory
Thai Beverage brings the award-winning artworks from its 2017 White Elephant Art Award to the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre’s main gallery from Thursday for the exhibition, “Thailand: Land of Happiness under The King’s 70-Year Reign”.
On display will be 21 realistic and figurative paintings, sculptures and mixed media works recognised in the sixth edition of the competition along with 40 selected works of art. The BACC is open Tuesday to Sunday.

Tang Contemporary Art in Bangkok is showing “Empty Seat: Chinese Conceptual Photography” from now until April 29.
Weng Fen, Ji Zhou, Yang Yong, Jiang Zhi, Liu Yujia, Fan Xi, and Amelie present images of different types of constructive experiments, casting off rules and restrictions to move towards freedom. The gallery is on the third floor of Golden Place Plaza on Rajdamri Road and open Tuesday to Saturday from 1am to 7pm.

A cruel world
Jakkai Siributr explores the politics of ethnicity and religion in the solo exhibition “Displaced” showing at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre’s fourth floor studio until May 13. All about sex
Artist Home-sawan Umansap presents the story of sex as the basic activity of human emotion in solo show “Sum” showing at Duke Contemporary Art Space until April 29. Taking the Thai word for making love as the title of his collection, the artist compares the appetite for sexual activity to art. The art space is on the first floor of Gaysorn Village and open daily from 11am to midnight.
