IF YOU’RE embracing the Internet of Things (IoT) as it begins tying together all the essentials of daily life into one handy technological bundle, the True Kidz Watch is a useful tool that might even prove to be a lifesaver.
With their children wearing the wristwatch from TrueMove H, parents can stay linked wirelessly from their smartphones, able to monitor the little ones’ location and make sure they’re safe.
The watch has a slot for a micro SIM such as TrueMove H’s own IoT SIM. The app on your phone allows you to track a child wearing the watch via GPS/LBS technology and the Wi-Fi location as shown on the TrueMove H network.
The application for both Android and iOS is easily downloaded and installed. Then you log in with your True ID, scan the QR code on the watch and use the app to select functions and settings.
Children can make and receive calls via the watch and hit an “SOS” button to speedily call you or any other designated number.
There’s a camera that the child can use – or you can use it remotely to check where they are and what’s going on. And there’s a microphone too for remote listening-in, another reassuring option if you suspect your child is in a dangerous situation.
The watch keeps a log of the wearer’s movements, a “journey history” of locations visited that can be viewed later.
With the Safe Zone function, you can set five different areas where you want your child to remain, and if they leave those zones, you get an alert on your phone.
The watch has a 1.22-inch TFT display, attractive touch-screen, and a 500mAh battery that will keep the watch on standby for five days.
Normally sold for Bt3,990, the watch comes with three spare straps in different colours.
Until February 28, TrueMove H post-paid customers can use their True Card and pay just Bt1,990 if they also subscribe to the “IoT Smart Watch 99” package. They can pay Bt49 per month for 12 months and Bt99 thereafter.
Buyers who switch from another mobile phone operator can get the watch with a Bt500 discount.
