Local rising star Kamonwan Buayam hoped to use five home ITF Women’s Circuits in Hua Hin to restore her pride after recent dismal results on the tour.

The 20-year-old from Chonburi, after five straight first round exits, is determined to make amends in the ITF series starting with US$25,000 Singha Cal-Comp and XYZ Printing ITF Women’s Circuit which gets underway at the True Arena Hua Hin.

“There are five circuits here. I will try to win one,” said the 387 th ranked Thai who just returned home on Saturday might from Zhuhai where she made the doubles semi-finals along with Lee Pei-Chi of Taiwan.

The recurrent knee injury and a lack of confidence has been the problem for the Fed Cup national player whose season best result was a semi-final in a US$25,000 event in New Delhi in February.

“When this injury started bothering me again, it’s been difficult for me to maintain my level and stay focused. I was playing under pressure as I wanted to do well and defend my points. When you think too much it’s hard to bring your top form,” added Kamonwan who will take on close friend Bunyawi Thamchaiwat  in the first round.

Kamonwan said she would keep playing until the rest of the season and will undergo an intensive treatment for her left knee next year.

Meanwhile in the final qualifying round, Plobrung Plipuech was the only Thai successfully earning a maindraw berth after she upset second seed Emilie Francati of Denmark 6-4 6-4. Compatriot Chompoothip Jandakate went down to eighth seed Zhang Yukun of China 6-3 6-4.
