All the power you need

A NEW POWER bank that’s highly portable and barely bigger than a credit card, the new ASUS ZenPower is large enough to recharge an iPhone 6 3.5 times, an iPhone 6 Plus twice, an iPad mini once, and an LG G4 three times without needing a boost itself.

The ZenPower comes in a strong anodised aluminium outer casing and has passed the USB Plug test up to 5,000 cycles. It can withstand 60 kgs of weight load so it is highly durable.

Online shopping website Lazada.co.th holds the exclusive rights to distribute ZenPower in Thailand. Currently only silver and gold colours are available but blue, pink and black will be added later. The other colours retail for Bt849 while the black one will be priced at Bt899.

Lazada Thailand told XP that the ZenPower will be available through its flash sale programme. The first flash sale for ZenPower was held on August 21 and the next one takes place tomorrow.

ASUStek says the power bank is safe with its PowerSafe technology helping to control the temperature and keeping the power bank working effectively.

Measuring just 90.5x59mm, the power bank is a whole lot thicker than a credit card with a full 22mm necessary for housing the 10,050 mAh battery.

The power bank weighs 215 grammes and while it is a little heavy for a shirt pocket, it’s a good fit for a trouser pocket or handbag.

ZenPower meets several safety certifications, including EAC, UL, CE and CB and comes with temperature protection as well as protection against short circuits, resets and more.

Boasting a minimal design, ZenPower has a micro-USB port for recharging its battery and the full charge takes about six hours. It has four LED lights to show the progress of the battery charge and is full once all the lights come on.

It also has a full USB port for outputting power to your gadget. A short full-USB to micro-USB cable is provided for the recharging. Once you connect your smartphone to the ZenPower, the recharging process starts automatically and the LED lights will flash showing the remaining level of the battery of the power bank. To check its battery level, simply use the power button. During the test, I recharged an LG G4 without problem and was pleased at the speed.
