Here's something you don't see every day: A-list actress Patcharapa "Aum" Chaichue attending a marketing event and not charging a baht for the privilege of seeing her.

It was the opening of the Face Shop last Thursday and Aum was showing up for free because the man behind the beauty business is her boyfriend, Pitan “Amp” Ongkosit. She knew her presence would goose up interest, but nevertheless took care to “sneak in” and avoid stealing the limelight rather than making a grand entrance hand in hand with Amp.
It didn’t last, of course. Everyone expected to see her and Amp welded together for the customary press interviews, and she didn’t disappoint. In fact it was the first time they’d done interviews together.
Aum’s big commercial deal is with Mistine, for which she’s long been a presenter, but she said she felt obliged to help her sweetie with his project. “I asked Mistine for permission to be here and they gave me the green light,” she said. Aum even dragged along some celebrity friends (which made sneaking in a bit trickier). “I do what I can!” she grinned.
While bestowing interviews, the couple was asked the inevitable question: “When are you getting married?” It resulted in an awkward couple of moments. Amp muttered something about their relationship being “real”. He said he’s planning for the future, to which Aum teasingly asked if he meant planning to escape. They both burst out laughing.
Then Amp, serious again, said Aum has more movie and TV commitments and he’s okay waiting until she’s ready to tie the knot. The reporters turned to Aum: “Are you ready?” She blushed and grasped in vain for words. “I don’t know how to answer!”
Well, her best pal Pichanart “May” Sakakorn said last year that Aum is pretty much ready to marry. Maybe Aum’s really the shy type and Amp is going to have to find a quieter moment – away from the press – to determine for himself if she’s ready.

More Mario and Mai!
Actors Mario Maurer and Davika “Mai” Hoorne have separately expressed delight that their blockbuster movie “Pee Mak Phra Khanong” will soon be screening in South Korea.
Mai said at last week’s premiere of her new film “Plae Kao” (“The Scar”) that she’s already started practising saying “hi” in Korean. “I don’t know whether GTH will fly us there for the screening,” she said of the “Pee Mak” film studio, “but I’d be more than willing to go!”
Mario talked about a possible trip to Seoul while attending a press conference for “Give Me 5: Concert Rate A” and said he’d love to see more Thai movies playing overseas. “If I can go I’ll practise some Korean,” he said.
But never mind “Pee Mak”, some of the reporters prodded, has the co-stars’ friendship soured? Alert fans noticed that Mai had stopped “following” Mario on Instagram, and furthermore tagged everyone except Mario in a photo she uploaded of the “Pee Mak” movie poster!
“I can’t remember if I follow him or not,” Mai said with dazzling ambiguity. Mario said he’d noticed nothing of the sort, but assured the press, “We have no problems. Since we finished the movie we’ve both kind of lost touch because we’re both so busy.”
