ATICHAT "AUM" CHUMNANONT has often hinted that he and fellow actor Nat Myria Benedetti would be tying the knot "soon".

Just last month he said the wedding would be around mid-year. Well, it happened a lot sooner than that: They had a very private ceremony on Monday, one day into the Thai New Year. Eighty guests – just family and close friends – gathered at the couple’s Bangkok home for the nuptials in the morning and then regrouped elsewhere for the party in the evening.
The fans got a glimpse of the proceedings via the “official” four-minute video and a professional photo posted online. In two days the video had been viewed more than 100,000 times on YouTube. The studio that made it, Box Wedding, posted it on Facebook too, where it promptly drew 35,000 shares and 40,000 likes. Aum offers an apology in the video for keeping everything so private. “I must apologise that I couldn’t invite more friends due to the limited space, but we can always make arrangements to celebrate over dinner sometime,” he says.
The wedding party took place at Benedix Studio, which laid out a glamorous Western-style feast. This is where Jakawin Photography got the great picture that appeared online. That’s the same studio that has shot many celebrities, including Songkran and Thaksaorn Techanarong and, more recently, Pakin “Tono” Khamwilaisuk and Pattaratida “Tangmo” Patcharaveerapong’s engagement party. Somehow “radio silence” was maintained and not a word leaked. Photographer Jakawin had said on Facebook last Saturday that Aum and Nat had a very private party coming up with very few guests, adding, “We just hope it doesn’t rain that day.” And that’s all that was said.
Actress Ann Thongprasom, Nat’s close friend who served as Cupid in getting her together with Aum, was of course there both morning and evening. Other showbiz guests included Scenario chief Takolkiat Virawan, Pongpat-Thanya Wachirabanjong and Nantida Kaewbuasai. It was like a family gathering since they’re all quite close, and many shed tears of joy during the course of the day. That includes the groom, was cried like a girl while formally addressing the guests. “I’ve known her for five years, starting when I was younger and not the person I am today. I was less responsible to begin with, but being with her has taught me to be a better person. I will always love her.”
Now you’re crying too, right? It’s nothing to be embarrassed about. So was Nat, but she managed to thank all the guests and proclaim that every one of them was equally important to her. “I can feel the love and the good wishes from all of you,” she said. “Without you all, I could not have come this far. This is the happiest day of my life!”
Aum had cautioned everyone not to expect a big, fancy affair, but it turned out to be modest only in the sense that there weren’t thousands of guests. The bride and groom appearing at the party on horseback is what some would call “big and fancy”. Channel 3 reported that the horse was Aum’s “only request” and he insisted on it, so Nat said, “Let’s mount up.”
The video is a joy to watch, packed with emotion, and even better, there’s more to come – a much longer version promised “soon” (there’s that word again) that is sure to come off like a fairytale romance, happy ending guaranteed.
