Some people say you can always find time to do what you love.

That’s possibly true on a different planet but, if so, we have an alien living among us in the form of Litti Kewkacha, eldest son of Pin Kewkacha, who owns Safari World.
Maybe Pin is an extraterrestrial too, but his boys run Kacha Brothers Co and have a string of restaurants. Litti oversees all the outlets, including the just-opened Kyo Roll En, and works hard at expanding the business.
But what he really loves to do is dine out at other people’s restaurants and then write reviews (not always snarky) at Sfreelife.com, especially when he travels abroad or if a star chef visits Bangkok. That’s his idea of pleasure.

However, asked whether he’d like to be a “serious” food critic, as in professional, Litti says no. “I think we have enough food critics in Thailand!” Maybe Kacha Bros is taking some flak?

Speaking of food
The children of celebrated chefs usually avoid cooking because people say, “Not as good as your old man’s”, but Christian Johann Kostner is a brave lad. His father is Norbert Kostner, the long-time genius of the kitchen at the Mandarin Oriental, and yet that hasn’t deterred his from opening his own restaurant, Johann Bistro.
Johann actually studied engineering at Thammasat University before realising he had no enthusiasm for girders and wiring. The stuff his dad used in the kitchen was always more interesting. So the son underwent training with the father, and sure enough, he had talent.
We couldn’t find Litti Kewkacha’s review of Johann Bistro, so we asked Johann what his pop thinks of the place. “He came to the restaurant often during the soft opening, and every time he tasted one of my dishes he always had something to say!”
We’re left to conclude that what Norbert had to say wasn’t, “Excellent!” Presumably it was more like, “Next time, more salt”, or maybe, “Easy on the foie gras infusion!” Either way, we’re getting hungry.
