FedEx serves up Thailand Open treat for kids

FedEx will take a group of 20 children from Ban Metta Home for the Destitute to watch the US$608,000 ATP Thailand Open, which runs from September 24 to 30 at the Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani.

 

In its second year as the official courier of the event, FedEx will hand the underprivileged youngsters an opportunity to see elite players in-the-flesh, including current and former top-10 stars Janko Tipsarevic, Richard Gasguet, Fernando Berdasco, up-and-coming Milos Raonic and Bernard Tomic.
“Last year the kids from the Home were very excited to watch tennis professionals on the court. They also went home with FedEx dolls as souvenirs. They were really happy to have this experience,” said David Carden, managing director of FedEx Thailand & Indochina.
The company, which has a three-year contract with the tournament, will also have a booth at Impact Arena during the tournament to allow fans to access to ATP players, who will be signing autographs.
A tournament trivia quiz will ask how long it would take the fastest serve to travel from Bangkok to London – which will be will be compared with FedEx’s “service” on the same route. Participants will receive prizes such as dolls, bags and water containers. 
FedEx, which has supported Beijing Olympics gold medallist Prapawadee Charoenrattanattarakool, has been the official courier for 18 ATP events in 13 countries.
