“I’m really glad I have the chance to perform in the musical, but I do fear that I might not sing as beautifully as the other actors,” she admitted to the press last Thursday.
The production – opening on June 14 – is the first musical for both Chompoo and Nation Broadcasting’s Mango TV, but the team is sturdy. Among the other participating veterans in their fields are Taitow Sucharitkul, who wrote the story on which it’s based, and her musical son Somtow, and Trisdee Na Pattalung and Kriangsak Silakong.
It’s a Bt40-million investment, which sure could buy a lot of mangoes. Instead it paid for, among other things, costumes by fashion guru Somchai “Kai” Kaewthong, who dressed Chompoo all up in “wow” for last week’s press conference.
She wore a glamorous gown that was originally white, but when Kai decided this was the one for Chompoo, he dyed it bright pink.
O, lucky boy
Billionaire Suthikiati Chirathivat’s son Passakorn, known as Pok, stuck to the family game plan at university. He studied economics instead of music, figuring he could save music for his master’s, but then Dad persuaded him to do a business course at Sasin instead.
Now at Post Today, Pok has finally let the musician within emerge, releasing a few singles on his own Mindset brand that are free to hear and download.
The latest news is an R&B album, for which a music video for the track “Chue Arai?” has been uploaded to YouTube. It’s not what you’d call a shoestring production by a starving artist. The video is top-quality and stars Cherman “Ploy” Boonyasak, Natalie Davis, Morakot “Amy” Kittisara, Pimpaporn “Pink” Leenutpong and Siriporn “Airin” Yukatat.
We hate to admit we’re late with our latest news, but 180,000 people have already viewed it. Suffice to say that Pok has a hit on his hands.
