Designs for survival
Anyone with a cool idea for a functional flood device is invited to enter Design for Disaster’s “Survive!” contest and compete for a Bt60,000 cash prize.
Design for Disasters, (D4D) is a non-profit research team, which focuses on disaster risk management through design.
You can get an idea of what kind of thing they do from their current “Survive!” show, which is part of the “Muang Jom Nam” (“Let’s Panic”) exhibition at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre until November 25.
Eventually, the winning designs will be implemented and displayed and all entries will be published in a “Disaster Survival Handbook”.
The submission deadline is December 23. Find out more at www.DesignForDisasters.org.
The BACC is also hosting talks on flood survival issues every Saturday from 2pm. Check out www.BACC.or.th.
