The temperature on the mountain fell to 15 degrees Celsius as of press time, with the onset of winter.
Jariyathorn Suhu, director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand office in Loei, said the Phu Thok mountain was among unseen tourist attractions, highlighting plentiful natural resources and the sea of mist during the cool season.
Tourists can clearly observe Boten’s border town in Laos’ Xayaburi district from there, he said.
He said the Ban Lad community enterprise was providing services for campers at 100 baht per person. Camping gears for two persons are also available at 350 baht, he added.
Ban Lad community enterprise chairman and member, Wichet Ritthisak and Wiroj Wongsa, confirmed that tourism on Phu Thok mountain was bustling with travellers from many regions in Thailand.
The community enterprise said travellers could visit other attractions near the mountain, such as flower fields and the Huai Nam Phrai reservoir.
Activities at the reservoir included playing in the water or searching for fish, crabs, shrimps and clams for cooking foods, it added.
Farm truck services to and from the mountain were available at 300 baht per ride, it said, adding that local food services could also be arranged by contacting the community enterprise in advance.
