The result of two matches has seen Thailand overcome Iraq by a cumulative score of 11-2.
“I would like to thank everyone on the team and all related parties for bringing happiness to futsal fans this year,” said Football Association of Thailand chairman Somyos Pumpanmuang.
“To celebrate their victory, the association will give another THB1 million on top of the gift money of THB1 million previously promised to the team if they make it to the final,” he said.
The futsal team had qualified for the finals five times in the past – in 2016, 2012, 2008, 2004 and 2000.
The final round will see 24 national teams locking horns. Besides Thailand, they feature Brazil, Argentina, Angola, Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Guatemala, Iran, Japan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Panama, Portugal, Paraguay, Russia, Serbia, Solomon Islands, the United States, Spain, Venezuela, and either Vietnam or Lebanon.
