Mananchaya, 16, also exited in the quarter-finals of the girls’ doubles as she and Thosaporn Naklo were beaten 7-6 (7-5) 4-6 10-7 by Loudmilla Bencheikh of France and Francesca Curmi of Malta.
Thailand’s main interest in the first major of the year had focused on the Kingdom’s top female player, Luksika Kumkhum, but she was sent packing early by Australian No 1 Ashleigh Barty 6-2 6-2 in the opening round.
