Dr Frank says that, instead of writing sarcastic letters about marijuana, I should be extolling its benefits. For years I’ve written God-knows-how-many letters on the benefits of marijuana as well as the hypocrisy and insanity of making it illegal and treating its users as though they are criminals.
Personally, I have rarely smoked pot since my college days and I never particularly liked it. But I have had friends who loved it and they weren’t hurting anyone. By contrast I know some of the nicest people who become monsters when they have drunk too much alcohol.
About the only people who have benefited from the entire drug war (here I’m not just talking about pot) are organised criminals and politicians who want you to think they have made the world safe from drug addiction when in reality they have only made the problem worse.
But sometimes sarcasm can be effective by showing people how ridiculous phobias about marijuana really are.
