Thailand upset Gabon in shoot-out thriller

Defending champion Thailand beat Gabon 4-2 during the penalty shoot-out to book the final showdown with the Slovak Republic  in the King’s Cup football tournament at the Rajamangala National stadium on Friday.

Thailand generated more scoring opportunities but failed  to deliver their attempts home in front of more than 25,000 fans.

However the Milovan  Rajevac’s side proved more effective in the shoot-out. Goalkeeper Kawin Thamasatchanan denied the first two kicks from Gabon to give the home team in the driver’s seat at the start of the duel and the momentum remained with the home team ever since.

Thailand will go for the fourth consecutive title as they take on the Slovak Republic, the 2-1 winner over UAE on Sunday.
