VIRGIN ACTIVE BROUGHT its first multi-programme boutique studio to Thailand last week, opening a new club on Wireless Road that focuses on making exercise more fun, extra engaging and exclusive for its members.
The new club has 1,300 square metres of floor space across three levels and is spacious enough to house nine different workout zones including a Pilates Reformer studio complete with 12 Stott Reformer Beds, as well as a cutting-edge cycle studio decked out with 18 stationary bikes from the Stages SC3 series – the finest of indoor cycling bikes.

“Our comprehensive group exercise programme has always been one of the key strengths at Virgin Active, and we pride ourselves on delivering workouts that are both effective and engaging for our members” says Christian Mason, managing director for Southeast Asia.
“In Thailand, as well as in other parts of Asia, the popularity of group exercise is an emergent trend for the business, with seven out of every 10 members having taken part in at least one group exercise class. This strong showing of interest, coupled with our understanding of the industry and experience gained from the success of our other clubs, gave us the confidence to launch a new club concept that showcases our group exercise offerings. We are shaking up the fitness industry with a well thought out holistic boutique concept.”
The new club will also feature studios that have become mainstays of Virgin Active, such as the Mind and Body studio, the High-Energy studio and the Grid zone, where members can attend classes that aid in their motion and flexibility. Members who prefer a more traditional approach to exercise can work out using free weights, machines and cardio equipment.

To coincide with the opening of this, its sixth club, Virgin Active will be launching HEAT (High Energy Athletic Training), which is the next evolution of high-performance training and the first to be brought to Asia Pacific. This high-energy and athletic workout promotes cardiovascular endurance, with the aim of helping participants boost their strength and stamina. Besides building a stronger, leaner and fitter physique, members can also expect to strengthen their determination to cope with the workout’s increasing intensity as the class progresses.
More than 200 group exercise classes are on offer for members to attend in a week and include Zumba Step, POP Pilates and Broga. Crowd favourites such as Pilates Reformer, ZUU and Pulse powered by Clubbercise will continue to be part of the core offering of group exercise programmes at the new club.
“Since the start of the year, we have introduced three new innovative workouts – POP Pilates, Sprint and Broga – to the market and these have become very popular with our members
“That has led us to launch new group workouts every three months. These new exercises will be led and conducted by our instructors at Virgin Active Wireless Road, before being introduced to our other clubs in Bangkok,” adds Olarn Phirintharangkoon, country manager, Thailand, Virgin Active.
