The 20-year-old, the only player to win two Thai LPGA titles this season in Prachinburi and Hua Hin, is one of the favourites for the trophy in Chiang Mai this week. With back-to-back wins in the fourth and fifth legs in July, Parinda’s total earnings have reached Bt475,000.
“The course is quite long this year and the flag positions are tough. You need to hit long tee-off shots to set yourself up for birdies. But there are many trees and you don’t want to end among them,” said Parinda, who hopes to end the year as the No 1 player on the tour.
“I am hoping to shoot under par score every day this week. My goal is to end the year as No 1. So a win this week will put me in a better position to realise that,” said Parinda, who practised for only 14 holes before rain showers forced players to return to the clubhouse.
Also in action this week are Kanyalak Preedasuttijit, the second leg winner who is second on the Order of Merit, Renuka Suksukont, the third leg winner in Hua Hin and third on the money list, and Dussavi Soopimjit, who won last week at the Kabin Buri Sport Club.
The winner of the stroke play tournament will receive Bt142,500.
