Khon Kaen-based Parinda Phokan produced a crucial birdie to beat amateur Arpichaya Yubol in a play-off to win the rain-interrupted Bt1 million Singha-SAT Toyota Championship at the par 72 6,450 yard Kabinburi Sports Club yesterday.

Rain storm suspended the final for three hours but it didn’t stop the momentum of the 20-year-old Parinda who just finished fourth in the Ladies European Thailand Championship last week.

Parinda and Arpichaya were tied at 11 under-par-205 after the regulation play. Parinda sealed off the win with a six-foot birdie putt while the 15-year-old amateur missed hers.

“I’m so overwhelmed because this is my first trophy after turning professional for a year. 11 under is also my best score in a tournament,” said Parinda who took the winner’s prize money of Bt142,500.

“I feel more confident since the LET event last week. The rain didn’t stop my momentum. But I felt a bit pressure from other players. I’m happy that it ended my way,” she added.
