ALREADY A favourite with fans of grilled prime meats, yakiniku-style restaurant Nikuya is now broadening its base with the launch of an Osaka-style barbecue buffet at pocket-friendly prices.
Operated in Thailand by the Oishi Group, the chain opened a new branch at Central Westgate mid last year, which has proved extremely popular with students and local residents for its simple d?cor, colour scheme and good food. All 39 large tables are equipped with smart barbecue grills that remove smoke from below and are powered by coconut shell charcoal that adds a slight of pleasant aroma to the meat.
“The brand was launched more than five years ago and we felt it was time to revive its look by upgrading the quality of ingredients and services. We’ve created a new concept called ‘Nikuya by Oishi’ that offers traditional Osaka-style BBQ with a wide diversity of ingredients,” says Pavich Jitsantiah, corporate communications manager of Oishi Group.
“We’ve also broadened our menus to include a barbecue buffet, set menus and new a la carte dishes to satisfy the tastes of all our customers. Today’s diners are much more focused on quality than special promotions.”
The buffet is divided into two levels and priced at Bt399-plus and Bt539-plus (excluding drinks) for two hours of eating.
100-gram Japanese Wagyu Chuck Roll
The Premium Buffet line presents 40 tantalising items including Australian brisket, rib eye and karubi (flank), while the Super Premium Buffet has 50, among them harami from the US, Australian brisket, strip loin and short ribs, Norwegian salmon and New Zealand mussels.
“We now offer more than 10 cuts of beef from which to choose. We have also created two new sauces mixed with sesame to which customers can add chilli, lemon juice, garlic and Gochuchang (red chili paste) to enjoy with the grilled meat,” Pavich says.
The a la carte and set menus have also been expanded and can be enjoyed without any time limit.
Gyu-Niku Super Premium Setto
The Gyo-Niku Super Premium (Bt679) is a great choice for beef lovers and offers wagyu premium beef, Australian brisket, American harami and rib eye in very tender textures. The Seafood Super Premium Setto (Bt599), meanwhile, has fresh salmon, river prawn and large-size New Zealand mussels in the same bowl.
Ton Toro Super Premium Setto
For a quick meal, there’s Ton Toro Super Premium Setto (Bt379) featuring Kurobuta and pork neck marinated in Nikuya sauce. All sets include a choice of Japanese rice or garlic fried rice, miso soup and mixed salad for two.
