Magners International Comedy Festival 2017 touches down in Thailand tomorrow (March 23) with hilarious line-ups across Bangkok, Pattaya, HuaHin and Phuket.
Running through Saturday, the festival is organised internationally by Magic Rock events, and co-presented locally by The Comedy Club Bangkok. This second edition sees more amazing comedians from the UK, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, Malaysia, and the USA descend on Thailand for more cutting-edge comedy.
In Bangkok, the fun fest happens across two venues: The Comedy Club Bangkok above The Royal Oak on Sukhumvit Soi 33/1 near Prom Phong BTS, and Altitude at The Westin Grande Sukhumvit near Sukhumvit MRT and Asoke BTS.
The opening gala show tomorrow night from 8 at Altitude includes performances by six comedians. Sharing the stage are sharp-witted Dan LaMorte from New Jersey, aspiring Canadian comedians Kelly Taylor and Brian Aylward, award-wining performer Justin Rivera and superstar Martin Mor from Northern Ireland.
After a successful career as a circus performer, Mor turned his attention on the unsuspecting comedy circuit. With over 25 years experience as a professional performer to his credit, Mor has established himself as one of the UK’s most popular and in-demand comedians. Very much the comedian’s comedian, Mor has been the support act of choice for stars like Frankie Boyle, Jack Dee, Lee Evans, Jasper Carrot, Patrick Kielty, Johnny Vegas, Steve Coogan, and Tina Turner.
Over at The Comedy Club Bangkok tomorrow night from 8.30, Indian comics Azeem Bantawalla, Sunanda Sachatraku and Sorbah Pant will have the audience rolling in the aisle.
There are two shows on Friday, at 7pm and 9.30pm at The Comedy Club Bangkok. The early show includes an all-star line-up of magician-turned-comedian Andre King from New Zealand, veteran comedian Lars Callieou from Canada as well as Dan LaMorte and Justin Rivera. The Indian trio takes the stage at 9.30.
Canada’s best known female comedian Dana Alexander, DaLaMorte, Justin Rivera and Kelly Taylor perform at The Comedy Club Bangkok from 7pm on Saturday, followed by a late-night special show by Andre King, Dan LaMorte and Bangkok’s own Chris Wegoda at 9.30pm.
Magners International Comedy Festival 2017 Thailand will also be staged at Tavern by the Sea at The Amari Hotel in Pattaya, Red Piano in Hua Hin and Underwood Art Factory in Phuket. Check the festival’s official website https://ComedyFest.Asia for line-up and ticket prices.
Tickets from Bt1,000 are available from www.ComedyClubBangkok.com and at the door.
