The celebrations feature shows by Thai rock legends VIP, The Fox, Kaleidoscope and The Olarn Project – known collectively as the “Big 4” – get underway at 8.30pm.
“I think that The Rock Pub can run itself, just on the basis of its name and reputation,” says the pub’s founder Wannop Buranasitiporn.
“Rock never dies and we’ve survived by showcasing a variety of rock music from every era and by updating our programmes and following trends. Of course Rock Pub has been affected by the country’s economic and political situations, but it still kept going despite the losses. I think the Rock Pub is the first and only destination for rock in Bangkok.
Nowadays our customers are mainly the foreign tourists and expats living here. I have a website, created by my son, which gives The Rock Pub’s profile, credits and shows. We have renovated our furniture and adjusted our sound system and lighting.”
Celebrations will continue throughout March with sets by rock outfits who have played at Rock Pub including Hin Lek Fai, Young Blood and Snow White. Tickets are Bt500 including one drink and available at the pub. Find out more by sending a text message to (009) 1915 666 or chat at Line ID: @therockpub.
