After the MAB comes the MAC

IF YOU’VE wondered about the crowd at the Rebeccaminkoff counter at Central Chidlom recently, it’s because of the miniature cross-body-design Morning After Clutch, affectionately abbreviated as “the MAC”.
The petite handbag is as practical as it is cute, just big enough to stash must-haves like lip gloss, phone, wallet, keys and sunglasses, but smart enough for any occasion, daytime or evening. The adjustable chain and studded leather strap can be worn singly or doubled, or simply removed when carrying the bag by hand. 
American designer Rebecca Minkoff conceived the MAC in 2001, adding to her reputation as a clever industry leader in accessibly priced luxury handbags, accessories, footwear and apparel. Minkoff’s playful yet subtly edgy designs are popular among young women around the world, including many celebrities.
Minkoff realised a lifelong dream when she garnered recognition as a New York City fashion designer at the age of only 18. Her “I Love New York” T-shirt, part of a five-piece capsule collection, became an overnight sensation when it was modelled on “The Tonight Show” beamed live from the Big Apple.
Her first handbag, the Morning After Bag (MAB), ignited her career with its “Downtown Romantic” theme that’s continued over the years. 

Rebeccaminkoff handbags and accessories bear her trademark leather, studs and other chic hardware, as memorably presented in her first ready-to-wear apparel collection in 2009. It’s since become a global lifestyle brand extending to footwear, jewellery and “athleisure (athletic and leisure) wear. Its men’s clothing and accessories are sold under the label Uri Minkoff, named for Rebecca’s brother, the firm’s co-founder and chief executive.
Their goods are distributed in more than 900 stores around the globe. 
Named Breakthrough Designer of 2011 by the Accessories Council, Rebecca Minkoff has put her earnings to noble use as a philanthropist.
This winter’s collection also includes the Mini Paris Crossbody, with a geometric shape, sleek black leather and gold hardware, a perfect match for a pencil skirt at work or a black miniskirt on the weekend. The latest going-out bag, the Chevron Quilted Chain Love Crossbody, features more eye-catching hardware, the Love Crossbody matches any outfit and can also be carried as a clutch, and the bestselling Leo Clutch is redesigned as the Leo Flat Crossbody with slits in the zippered main compartment for cards and cash and a detachable strap.
