Ut-Tha-Yan, which makes wood slab furniture, has some unusual ideas to convince you

IF YOU want your home decor to truly reflect your identity as well as your taste, both inside and out, the furniture ought to be primarily wood.
As the wood slab furniture designers at Ut-Tha-Yan point out, this material more than any other gives spaces a warm and natural feeling and each piece has its own unique beauty and character.
Ut-Tha-Yan pursues a concept called “Live Edge Design”, in which the wood’s natural forms are retained and highlighted through clever design. The furniture meets both functional needs and aesthetic preferences and is sure to add warmth and beauty to every corner of the home.
The living room – the centre of the home, where the whole family gathers to relax and do activities together and where guests are mainly welcomed – should more than any other room have decor that reflects your personality and tastes like a mirror.
In terms of furnishings, one idea is to use a wooden centrepiece like a sofa table, and teak is among the most popular types of wood for this, just as it is for the more commonly used wall panelling.
Teak’s unique shape fits perfectly with tempered glass to showcase the delicate structure of the roots, giving it a simple but sophisticated look that can amazingly enhance a living room.
Another clever notion is to create a focal point in the dining room using the natural patterns of raintree wood. It almost feels as though you’re outdoors when you’re sitting at a wood slab dining table.
The table retains the raintree’s natural shape, patterns and amber-brown colour. Other materials can be chosen for the legs – wood, steel or stainless steel – to make the table a little unconventional.
Contrary to the belief that wooden furniture has no place in a damp place, wooden furniture can in fact be used in the bathroom despite the humidity. It’s challenging, but still possible.
Padauk wood is a good choice since it’s so durable. It makes a great counter for the wash basin, for example. Padauk wood slab, in its natural form, offers a sense of strength and its size and shape afford a more functional space on the counter.
In the workroom, you can achieve a relaxing atmosphere – and perhaps boost your productivity – with a desk made of Afzelia wood.
A desk like this with a glass top truly constitutes a work desk beyond the ordinary. The wood comes from the tree’s trunk and maintains its original natural form, wile glass and metal parts add a touch of design.
The wood’s natural warmth, the contemporary accent in the glass and the strength of steel combine in a working desk unlike any other.
And finally, the garden will feel that much more harmonious with a bench made of Kempas wood. Sunlight and rain are no friends to wood, but semi-outdoor furniture made with Kempas wood stands up to them.
The top and legs are made with rugged Kempas and fine for outdoors. The wood is yellow-orange with distinctive patterns.
