French films - now with Thai subtitles
THE ALLIANCE Francaise Bangkok is adding to its film offerings, with French films screening with Thai subtitles on Fridays in addition to the usual Wednesday screenings of French films with English subtitles.
Begun last Friday with the horse-jumping drama “Jappeloup”, the weekly Thai-subbed series continues at 7 tonight with “Rengaine” (“Hold Back”) about the taboo Paris romance between a black Christian man and an Arab Muslim woman with 40 angry brothers.
“The Alliance Francaise Bangkok would like to offer more movies and diversified quality programmes to the general public,” the Alliance says. The plan is to screen not only French and European movies but also French co-productions made in Southeast Asia. “Our screening programme will be an alternative for film lovers,” the Alliance says.
In addition to Thai-subtitled and English-subtitled offerings, the Alliance will continue to have “kids’ movies” on Saturdays once a month.
Take note that because of next week’s Songkran holiday, there are no films at the Alliance. The screenings resume on April 20 and April 22.
Additionally, there is now a cost for the movies – Bt100 baht for non-members and Bt50 for members and Alliance students.
