For battling Por, good news, then a setback

We thought we were all set at last to share unqualified good news about actor Tridsadee “Por” Sahawong, who’s done so well in fighting off life-endangering complications stemming from dengue fever and was continuing to get high marks from the doctors at R

His uncle and manager, Sornmontra “Nam Oy” Pichaisornphlaeng, had shed his usual caution in updating the press with the announcement that Por could soon “graduate” from intensive care.
But then on Tuesday evening, reporters saw Por’s wife Vanda talking with a doctor outside the unit and start crying. Clearly something else had gone wrong and, sure enough, both Nam Oy and a doctor confirmed that Por’s condition has worsened once again.
The hospital in its official announcement said Por was in worse shape than he’d been the previous week, with his pulmonary system now in peril and further infection causing breathing problems, so he’s on a respirator.
As if that weren’t bad enough, the rumour mill started up again, and some idiot spread the word that Por had died, forcing his family to issue a quick and stern denial.
But the actor remains in dire condition, so the good news we’re all waiting to hear is still on hold.

Ah, but who sings it Best?
Thidthinan “Best” Parnon lived up to his nickname by winning “The Voice” in the Season 4 finale and then further demonstrated that he’s a star in the making – by stirring up a controversy.
Best celebrated his triumph in the TV competition by treating the audience to a song called “Khon Doi Khee Ngao”, which the show’s co-host Rinlanee “Joy” Sriphen introduced as “his new single”.
Well, it might be Best’s new single, but it wasn’t a new song, as many sharp-eared viewers observed fumed later on the chat sites and social networks. It was “Ngao Bon Doi”, which actor-singer Benchapol Choei-arun used to perform.
So Best had to do some explaining as he made a victory lap of the newsrooms. He and his mentor, Apisit Opasaimlikit – yes, Joey Boy – told the press it’s all a misunderstanding.
“Khon Doi Khee Ngao” isn’t new and it was previously known as “Ngao Bon Doi”, they acknowledged, but it’s been around in its current title for a while. Joey Boy’s assistant, Natthaphong Sincharoen, sang it when he was a contestant on Season 1 of “The Voice”, and he and Joey agreed it was a perfect tune for Best’s big push for the title.
Before the last show, each of the four finalists is assigned a song to record as a single. Two of them get brand-new tunes and the other two get old ones with fresh arrangements. That’s what Best got.
Natthaphong happened to know the composer, Thaweerat Choteravee, who now lives overseas, and called him to clear the song’s use.
So the only problem was when Joy called it Best’s new single and some people only heard the word “new”.
