Little Mali is ample reason for Por to keep fighting

AFTER MORE THAN a week in intensive care, Tridsadee "Por" Sahawong underwent surgery on Tuesday to stop bleeding in his lungs, which certainly wasn't helping matters as the actor continues to battle the fallout from dengue fever.

Though Por remains in critical condition, the surgery went well and his family declared that he’d had his best day since being admitted.
Por’s uncle and manager, Sornmontra “Nam Oy” Pichaisornphlaeng, told the press that, with the success of the surgery, they feel like “the first storm has passed” and now they’re ready to cope with more, and certainly more dark weather is expected. The bleeding in the lungs has been solved, but Por continues to be plugged into so many medical machines that even that life-saving equipment poses a risk, in terms of possible infection. Por’s father, Sa-nguan Sahawong, says the family has full trust in the hospital team regardless.
The family has maintained a consistent policy of trying anything that might help Por, including praying, making merit and, in the case of Por’s youngest brother Chawanan (“Pin”), entering the monkhood.
Being ordained is believed to bring much merit to anyone suffering from bad luck, so Pin deserves ample credit for committing himself to the cause. He’s only become a novice, though, since the family simply didn’t have time for him to memorise the elaborate mantras required for a full ordination.
Por’s wife Vanda “Bow” Muttasuwan was at the hospital last Friday with a little girl in tow, later confirmed to be Por’s daughter, Phakhwan, nicknamed Mali (Jasmine). Their presence – even their existence – came as a surprise to some. However Uncle Nam Oy explained that Por and Bow formally married a few years ago (Mali is two), but Bow prefers to stay out of the limelight. In fact, he said, Por had planned to present his family to the public this month, but then illness intervened.
Wishing to maintain her and Mali’s privacy, Bow kept a surgical mask on while allowing a brief interview with reporters at the hospital. She admitted she’s had little sleep since her husband was admitted, but is now relying on sleeping pills every night.
Wife and daughter have visited Ramathibodi every day since, and little angel Mali is showing no shyness about the press. As a matter of fact she’s become something of a star among the reporters and photographers, playing with them, dancing and posing for pictures. And when Por’s actor friends come to visit, she’s the one they all want to have their pictures taken with.
