Snipers in the crowd decided a while back that actress Bongkot “Tak” Kongmalai was getting a little chubby, not the best development when her marriage was imminent to billionaire Boonchai Bencharongkul, to who she became engaged in November. “I know!” Tak shot back. “I’m trying to get in shape!”
As it turns out, though, Tak was aiming for an even rounder shape. She announced yesterday that she’s two months pregnant. She’s been to Bumrungrad Hospital for prenatal care, but will skip that on March 28 and instead attend her wedding at the Oriental Hotel. And Tak will be off work for a while. She’s already stepped away from her soap opera “Nang Marn” due to morning sickness.
Congratulations flooded the social networks, especially for being typically straightforward about the announcement and the timing, thus saving pundits the trouble of calculating the celebrity baby’s due date.
As to getting pregnant before she was married, much to the gossips’ disappointment there have been no moral objections, even from Tak’s mum Thanapa, who’d already said she’d love a grandchild soon, before she gets too old to enjoy it.
Is this soon enough?
Fame vs fortune
Actress-turned-singer Kevalin “Aon” Cottland disappeared from show business. Did she turn into something else? Yes, she did, and she’s doing so well in direct sales that it’s unlikely we’ll ever again hear her sing “Rak Ter Mod Jai” (“Love You with All My Heart”).
Aon works for US-based Unicity and attended a company seminar in Bangkok over the weekend. A star in sales, she explained that she was initially impressed with the company’s allergy remedy, but became a convert after injuring her knee in a car accident and taking to phone sales while immobilised. She pocketed six figures the first month and turned her back forever on showbiz chump change.
Funny, because her widowed mother begged her not to quit singing. Of course, that was before Aon’s telephone crooning was pulling in a pair of Mercedes-Benzes and Bt500,000 a month.
