Siam Vintage, Bangkok’s newest neighbourhood mall, is wholly dedicated to those stubborn fans of the fashion and design of yesteryear.
It has more than 30 shops on the second floor of the By-Pass building in Siam Square, overlooking the Chulalongkorn Book Centre.
Managing director Kraisith Tharom calls the mall a repository of classic accessories, jewellery and decorative items that will appeal to men as well as women.
Leading Thai designers and a slew of celebrities own the shops, including Marisa “Am” Tamsakul’s Again&Again, Ploy Horwang’s Him+Her and her sister Cris Horwang’s Secret Weapon.
There’s also a wine-and-cocktail bar with a suitably nostalgic ambience where shoppers can relax between bargains.
“Vintage fashion never dies, and again today it’s very much in vogue,” says Kraisith. “That’s why we set up this mall. It’s designed to be Bangkok’s only centre for vintage apparel and will meet every customer’s needs. It’s for shoppers who follow the fashion trends but are looking for something different.”
The mall’s recently opening party drew stars and designers, many of whom participated in a fashion show. Modelling “forever-cool” outfits on the runway were Paranyoo Rojanavutthitham, Thanwa Suriyachak, Sri Rita Jansen and Chotika Wongwilas.
Kraisith was deluged with congratulations from the likes of Danai Jarujinda, Warinthorn Panhakarn, Kemsorn Nookhao and Linda Srilpasawang.
