The snow falls, lovebirds coo
Valentine’s Day itself was nothing special for lovebird actors Atichart “Aum” Chumnanont and Nat Myria Benedetti, but they’d already paid their respects to Cupid by shooting a sweet fashion spread for Preaw magazine. They’re on the cover of the latest issue.
It’s a lovely set of photos, the two just being themselves and seemingly expressing real emotions. The pictures were taken in freezing Switzerland, where it had just snowed heavily, yet Nat wasn’t what you’d call overburdened with clothing. Striking poses in her lightweight DKNY dress, Nat was assessed by a passing resident: “She’s very brave!”
Cold? What cold? The courageous Thais wrapped things up by playing in the snow on a mountainside.
In the accompanying interview, Aum and Nat talk about their ultra-smooth relationship. Aum is six years younger and used to call Nat “Phi”, but now they have more intimate terms of address for each other. Nat is “Nong Ped” because she’s so ducky and Nat calls Aum “Bie”, short for baby, or “Kong”, as in King Kong.
It’s not because he’s a big ape in bed (we think). “He’s an exercise fanatic and has lots of muscles, so I kid him that he’s almost King Kong size.” Aum did indeed go jogging before work every day in Switzerland.
We hear he’s gay. (We’re kidding – it’s just a tenacious rumour.)
“I’ve been hearing that forever,” Nat says, calling such talk disrespectful, “but once I got to know him and all his friends, I knew he was absolutely not gay.”
Aum admits the gossip is irritating and Nat says it affects him emotionally as well as professionally, but both insist there’s no way it could upset their relationship.
“I feel special having her – she’s my inspiration to do good things and make her happy every day,” says Aum, emphasising that that’s much more meaningful than, say, getting married.
“Sometimes I ask myself if I’m too spoiled,” Nat giggles. “Whatever I ask for, Aum will do it for me, for my happiness.”
