Tseng hits Pattaya for title defence

Three former winners led by world No 1 Yani Tseng arrived in Pattaya yesterday to prepare for the US$1.5million Honda LPGA Thailand, which starts on Thursday at the Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course.

Defending champion Tseng along with 2007 winner Suzann Pettersen of Norway and South Korean Han Heewon, who triumphed in the inaugural edition in 2006, are here for the second event of the 2012 LPGA tour’s Asian leg. The trio competed in the Women’s Australian Open last week.
Tseng will need to salvage pride after a dismal final round of 74 which sank her title defence in Melbourne on Sunday.
Other big names who have already arrived at the beach city include Morgen Pressel, Cristie Kerr, Christina Kim, Stacy Lewis, Angela Stanford, Park Seri, Park Inbee, Park Heeyoung and US teenage prodigy Alexis Thompson.
American pinup Michelle Wie and 2010 victor Ai Miyazato of Japan have also made their way to Pattaya while fan favourite Paula Creamer is due to arrive this morning.
The three-round, no cut tournament features the top 60 on the 2011 money list plus 10 sponsor invites.
