Okinawa will be the only prefecture under a state of emergency.
Seven prefectures, including Tokyo, plan to shift to emergency-level priority measures, to remain in effect until July 11.
Regarding the five other prefectures currently under the emergency-level priority measures, the government is considering lifting the measures for Gifu and Mie prefectures.
Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga told reporters Wednesday night at the Prime Minister’s Office that he would make a decision on Thursday after consulting with experts.
