ANALOG television signals will be switched off in 15 cities and provinces across Vietnam tomorrow, the Ministry of Information and Communications said.

Deputy Minister Pham Hong Hai sent an official announcement to the provincial people’s committees and telecom providers last Thursday asking them to ensure residents were prepared for the change.
The provincial television and broadcasting stations and departments of information and communications have been told to increase information on the digitalisation process.
Viewers have been advised to purchase a digital terrestrial television receiver before the analog signal is switched off.
The ministry also asked the departments to focus on helping poor and nearly-poor households in the 15 cities and provinces access set-top boxes that will allow their televisions to receive digital signals.
According to the management board of the programme to provide public telecommunication services, more than 479,000 households in the 15 localities were being provided this support, which was expected to be complete before the switch-off.
People have also been directed to a website, sohoatruyenhinh.vn, for assistance.
Vietnam is targeting a complete move to digital terrestrial television broadcasting by 2020.
