Myanmar's leading supermarket chain City Mart has begun accepting Visa debit and credit cards at select branches after successfully negotiating a payment plan with Visa and KBZ Bank. Since entering the country in 2012, Visa cards are now accepted by 1,80

Customers can pay with their Visa debit and credit cards at City Mart at Junction Square, at Market Place by City Mart in Golden Valley and at Market Place by City Mart at Parkson in Yangon.
City Mart operates 19 branches in Myanmar.
Supermarkets have been a favourite shopping destination of upper middle-income earners in the country as well as foreigners.

Hiro Taylor, country manager for Visa, Myanmar, said that Visa will support the rollout of card acceptance in Myanmar and looks forward to working with more merchants as Myanmar continues to develop its financial infrastructure and expand access to electronic payments across the country.

“For customers, paying with a Visa card is simple, safe and secure, eliminating the risk of carrying too much – or too little – cash. This is particularly good news for tourists when they buy gifts for home. As for businesses, they can increase their sales safely and securely, knowing that their money will be deposited to their bank accounts the following day,” Taylor said.
