Thailand records 16,462 Covid-19 cases and 27 deaths on Wednesday

Ministry of Public Health reported on Wednesday (February 16) morning that in the past 24 hours there are 16,462 new patients who tested positive for Covid-19, 136 of whom have arrived in Thailand from abroad.

Death toll increased by 27, while 10,868 patients were cured and allowed to leave hospitals.

Cumulative cases in the country since January 1, 2022 are at 415,627.
 

The country’s total caseload from Covid-19 stands at 2,639,062 – 2,478,251 of whom have recovered, 309,757 are still in hospitals and 22,516 have died.

Separately, another 52,842 people were given their first Covid-19 shot in the last 24 hours, 44,312 their second shot and 206,430 a booster, bringing the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered nationwide to 120,520,771.

According to Worldometer, confirmed cases globally had risen to 416.06 million on Wednesday, 338.81 million of whom have recovered, 71.39 million are active cases (85,227 in severe condition) and 5.86 million have died (up by 10,056).

Thailand ranks 31st in the global list of most cases, which is topped by the US with 79.63 million, followed by India with 42.72 million, Brazil with 27.66 million, France with 21.88 million and the UK with 18.39 million.
