A taxi driver reportedly jumped to his death on Monday from the Rama VII Bridge in Nonthaburi. The reason for the death was apparently the Covid-19 crisis.

Radio station FM91 Trafficpro reported at 2.20am that a man saw the cabbie trying to jump from the bridge and called the police. However, when police arrived at the scene, they only found a pair of shoes. The taxicab was found parked at the base of the bridge.

Further investigation showed the cabbie went by the name Lek and was 60 years old. No other details were available as of press time.

Facebook user Chanin Sa-at, who is a rescue volunteer with the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, said the cabbie had told a passer-by that the Covid-19 crisis was unbearable.
