Kasetsart Universitys Bangkhen campus in Bangkok opened its first vaccination centre for university staff on Sunday.

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration permanent secretary Silapasuay Raweesangsoon arrived at the university to oversee its operation to vaccinate 1,000 staff aged between 55 and 60 in the morning.

The centre, which offers vaccination and symptom-monitoring by medical staff from Chulabhorn Royal Academy, will vaccinate 1,000-1,500 staff daily until it reaches the target of 6,000 staff by May 26.

After that the university would allow its students and public in the nearby area to receive their Covid-19 jab from June onwards.

Silapasuay later went to oversee the operation at the Covid-19 screening station at the 72nd Anniversary Stadium in Minburi district.

The station is allowing Thai nationals in Bangkok's nine districts who are at risk of Covid-19 infection, such as merchants, city workers, public transport drivers and shopping mall staff to take free tests.

The station will operate daily until June 12 from 9am-2pm, and it can conduct tests on 600-700 people per day.

From May 17 to 22, this station conducted Covid-19 tests on 3,903 people, of whom 2,500 were negative, 50 were positive and 1,353 results were awaited.
