All remaining players of the Thailand women’s volleyball team got Covid-19 jabs at Sri Thanya Hospital in Bangkok on Tuesday ahead of the FIVB Volleyball Womens Nations League in Rimini, Italy from May 25 to June 25.

“All 17 athletes, including stars like Wilawan Apinyaphong, Nussara Tomkham, Pleumjit Thinkhao and Amporn Yapha, are physically fit and showed no side effects after vaccination,” said the Thailand Volleyball Association. “Coaches and staff who will accompany them to Italy also got their jabs today.”

The association was set to withdraw the team from the tournament earlier this month after 22 players and staff contracted Covid-19 at their training camp in Nakhon Pathom. However, the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) allowed the team to change the roster by switching out the infected players.

On Wednesday the athletes and staff will get a final test to confirm that they are free of Covid-19 before departing to Italy on the night of May 20. Their first match will be against Japan on May 25 at 8pm.
