As the extended Songkran holiday kicked off on Monday, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha posted a message on his Facebook page wishing everybody a happy Songkran and advising them to be safe while travelling.

He also urged everyone to protect themselves and take care of their family members, especially the elderly.

“Don’t forget that we still have to stay on guard and consistently wear a face mask to protect ourselves and the people we love. Happy New Year,” the post read.
