Students from schools across the country gathered outside the Education Ministry on Wednesday (August 19), calling for Minister Natthapol Teepsuwan to quit.
The “Nakrian Laew” or Bad Students group demanded that authorities stop intimidating them for voicing political opinions and called for an end to strict rules on haircuts and uniforms.Natthapol eventually emerged but was told by protest leaders he would have to wait his turn to address the students.
Many blew whistles at the minister to remind him of his days as an anti-government protester during the yellow-shirt rallies in 2013-2014.Students also raised the three-finger salute used in the Hunger Games films as a signal of defiance against dictatorship.
