Clash of ideologies
The royalist Coordination Centre for Vocational Students and People Protecting the Institution held a rally at Bangkok's Democracy Monument on Sunday morning (August 16).
Their rally was aimed at providing an opposition to the Free Youth student-led protesters who will hold their demonstration at the same place from 3pm to 9pm. The rivals wanted to monitor if they would criticise the highest institution.
However, the Coordination Centre said it would not object or retaliate against them.
"As the demonstration at Thammasat University recently showed, students had gone beyond their duties. The Coordination Centre for Vocational Students and People Protecting the Institution, therefore, decided to keep an eye on them closely," the Coordination Centre said.
