The court has dropped charges against Sombat Boongamanong, an anti-coup activist, who allegedly violated Section 116 of the Criminal Code and the Computer Crime Act by posting messages against the 2014 coup.

These messages were posted between May 30 and June 4, 2015, when martial law was in effect and criticising the government was illegal.
Though Sombat posted several messages undermining the then-National Council for Peace and Order and encouraging people to protest against it, the court did not find the messages an instigation to disturb national peace and said his messages initiated no political movement.
Sombat was previously a red-shirt leader and was once put behind bars.
