Amnat Wichayanuwat, Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) director-general, said officials from each local education office will survey students and their parents, family by family, and suggest the best ways for them to access and benefit from distance learning. The officials will also survey problems in schools.
The biggest problem encountered by families during the first three days was difficulty tuning in to the Distant Learning Television (DLTV) channel.
OBEC has addressed the issue by asking the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission and the Digital Economy and Society Ministry to provide 2 million families with set-top boxes so they can access the channel.
The director general added that OBEC has asked DLTV to improve the quality of its courses after public complaints about the lessons being broadcast by the channel. The office will also procure English teachers from Regional English Training Centres to support the Distance Learning Foundation’s teachers.
