Health authorities have been able to track down only 55 of the thousands of people who were watching boxing matches at Bangkok’s Lumphini Stadium on March 6 when the Covid-19 virus was being transmitted in the crowd.

Public Health Ministry spokesperson Taweesin Visanuyothin said on Friday (March 20) that, while many of the 55 fans found have tested positive, the number of infections that day could be as many as 500.
Everyone who was at the stadium on March 6 should be tested, he said.
The number of infections confirmed so far is statistically not enough considering the stadium’s capacity, he said, but investigators sifting through social media have been unable to identify more fans from that day.
Taweesin issued a similar warning to anyone who’s been frequenting Bangkok entertainment venues, another source of contagion.
The volume of people at such places is often so high that anyone who’s been out dining and drinking or watching stage shows should stay home in self-quarantine and wait out the 14 days it can take for symptoms of infection to appear.
